Plumbing pricing playbook — share your calculators, scripts and real job breakdowns
Plumbers and small contractors: what systems do you actually use to turn a diagnosis into a fair, profitable quote? Looking for field-tested, practical submissions — not theory. Please share first-hand examples, templates or links you’ve used in live jobs.
When you reply, consider including one recent anonymized job (one post per job) with these fields:
- Location/region (city, state or country) — for local cost context
- Job description and diagnosis (brief)
- Materials list and costs
- Labor time estimate and rate (or flat-rate decision)
- Overhead allocation and profit margin (% or $)
- Final customer price and whether you won the job
- Any emergency/after-hours fees used
- Client script(s) for presenting the quote and handling objections
- Tools/apps/calculators/templates used (attach or link if possible)
Also share: Do you default to flat-rate or hourly for that job type? Which line items do you always itemize vs roll into a flat price? How do you handle permits, disposal, and warranty wording in the quote?
If you’ve got downloadable estimate templates, spreadsheet calculators, or screenshots of estimator apps, please attach or link. Tag posts with short labels like [SINK REPAIR], [MAIN LINE], [WATER HEATER], [EMERGENCY].
Goal: collect repeatable templates, regional benchmarks and scripts we can test and adapt. Looking forward to concrete examples and the calculators or SOPs you actually use in the field.
